Fasting While Travelling According to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) allowed people to choose whether or not they wanted to fast while travelling.

It was narrated that Hamzah bin 'Amr said: "I used to fast continually at the time of the Messenger of Allah. I said: 'O continually while traveling'. He said: 'If you wish then fast, and if you wish then do not fast"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Choose whether or not you want to fast while travelling .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Hamzah bin 'Amr tells us that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave permission for people to choose whether or not they wanted to fast while travelling. This is a reminder of how much freedom and choice was given by the Prophet in matters of religion. He did not force anyone into doing something that would be difficult for them and instead gave them the option of deciding what was best for themselves. This teaches us that we should always strive to give others freedom and respect their choices even if we do not agree with them. We should also remember that Allah knows best and will reward us accordingly no matter what our decisions are.
