Fasting During Ramadan

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) went to Makkah and fasted until he reached Kura Al-Ghameem. He then drank water in front of the people, some of whom broke their fast while others continued to fast. The Prophet then said that those who continued to fast were disobedient.

It was narrated that Jabir said: "The Messenger of Allah went out to Makkah in the year of the Conquest in Ramadan. He fasted until he reached Kura Al-Ghameem, and the people fast, so he called for a vessel of water after 'Asr and drank it while the people were looking on. Then some of the people broke their fast and some continued to fast. He heard that some people were still fasting and he said: 'Those are the disobedient ones.

QUICK LESSONS:
Obey Allah’s commands and follow His Messenger’s example in all matters related to religion as well as life in general

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about fasting during the month of Ramadan, which is one of the five pillars of Islam. It was narrated by Jabir that the Prophet Muhammad went out to Makkah in the year of Conquest during Ramadan and he fasted until he reached Kura Al-Ghameem. When he arrived there, he called for a vessel of water after Asr prayer and drank it while people were looking on him. Some people broke their fast after seeing this but some still continued fasting despite this action from the Prophet Muhammad. The Prophet then said that those who still kept fasting were disobedient ones as they did not follow his example when it came to breaking their fasts at that time. This hadith teaches us about obedience towards Allah's commands and following His Messenger's example in all matters related to religion as well as life in general, even if we do not understand why something has been commanded or done by Him or His Messenger at first glance. We should also remember that Allah knows best what is good for us so we should always strive to obey Him without question or hesitation even if it goes against our own desires or wishes sometimes because He knows what is best for us better than anyone else does!
