Sunan an-Nasai 2157 (Book 22, Hadith 68) #16768
The Prophet's Morning Routine

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad and Zaid bin Thabit had Sahur (pre-dawn meal) and then prayed Subh (morning prayer) after a short period of time.

It was narrated that Anas said: "The Messenger of Allah and Zaid bin Thabit had Sahur, then they went and started to pray Subh". We said to Anas: "How long was there between their finishing and their starting to pray?" He said: "As long as it takes a man to recite fifty Verses".

QUICK LESSONS:
Set aside some time for prayer every day no matter how busy one's life may be .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Anas tells us about the morning routine of the Prophet Muhammad and his companion Zaid bin Thabit. They would have their pre-dawn meal known as sahur before starting to pray subh which is the morning prayer. After finishing their sahur they would recite fifty verses before beginning to pray subh. This shows us that even though it is important to take care of our physical needs such as eating breakfast in the morning, we should also prioritize our spiritual needs by praying regularly. We can learn from this hadith that we should make sure to set aside some time for prayer every day no matter how busy our lives may be.
