Niche and Ditch - A Teaching of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that the niche is for Muslims and the ditch is for non-Muslims.

It was narrated from Sa'eed bin Jubair that Ibn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah said: "The niche is for us and the ditch is for others". (Daif)
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الأَذْرَمِيُّ، عَنْ حَكَّامِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ الرَّازِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏:‏ ‏ "‏ اللَّحْدُ لَنَا وَالشَّقُّ لِغَيْرِنَا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith was narrated by Sa'eed bin Jubair from Ibn 'Abbas who reported that the Messenger of Allah said "The niche is for us and the ditch is for others". The essence of this hadith teaches us that Muslims should strive to be in a place of honor and respect while non-Muslims should be respected but kept at a distance. This teaching encourages Muslims to maintain their faith while also respecting those who are not Muslim. It also serves as a reminder to stay away from any activities or places which may lead one astray from their faith.
