Sahih al-Bukhari 1671 (Book 25, Hadith 151) #1602
The Sign of Righteousness

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the Prophet (ﷺ) teaching people that rushing and making a lot of noise is not a sign of righteousness.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas.: I proceeded along with the Prophet on the day of 'Arafat (9th Dhul-Hijja). The Prophet heard a great hue and cry and the beating of camels behind him. So he beckoned to the people with his lash, "O people! Be quiet. Hastening is not a sign of righteousness".

QUICK LESSONS:
Take your time when doing tasks; Be mindful when making noise; Respect others' space & time; Follow what Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us.

EXPLANATIONS:
On the day of 'Arafat during the 9th month of Dhul-Hijja, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ heard a great hue and cry and the beating of camels behind him. He then beckoned to the people with his lash to be quiet as he taught them that hastening was not a sign of righteousness. This hadith teaches us that we should take our time in doing things instead of rushing through them as it does not necessarily mean we are being righteous or doing something right. We should also be mindful when making noise as it can disturb others around us who may be trying to focus on something important or just trying to relax in peace and quiet.
