The Power of Prayer

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the power of prayer and how it can ward off evil.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'When the call to prayer is given, the Shaitan runs away breaking wind loudly. When the tathwib (Iqamah) is completed, he comes back and whispers to a man in his hear, until he does not know how many (rak'ahs) he has prayed. If any one of you notices that, let him prostrate twice'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the power of prayer and how it can ward off evil. It was narrated by Abu Hurairah that the Prophet Muhammad said that when the call to prayer is given, Satan runs away breaking wind loudly. When the tathwib or Iqamah is completed, he comes back and whispers in a man's ear until he does not know how many rak'ahs he has prayed. If anyone notices this happening, they should prostrate twice in order to ward off any evil influence from Satan. This hadith teaches us that prayer is a powerful tool for protection against evil forces and should be taken seriously as an act of worship towards Allah. It also encourages us to pay attention during our prayers so we do not forget any part of them or become distracted by outside influences such as Satan's whispers.
