Sunan an-Nasai 664 (Book 7, Hadith 39) #15272
Reminding Others of their Duties

SUMMARY: The hadith is about a man who reminded the Prophet (S.A.W) that he had forgotten to pray one Rak'ah of his prayer, and the Prophet (S.A.W) then prayed it with the people in attendance.

It was narrated that Mu'awiyah bin Hudaij that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) prayed one day and said the Taslim when there was still a Rak'ah left of the prayer. A man caught up with him and said: 'You forgot a Rak'ah of the prayer!' So he came back into the Masjid and told Bilal to call the Iqamah for prayer, then he led the people in praying one Rak'ah. I told the people about that and they said to me: 'Do you know who that man was?' I said: 'No, not unless I see him'.. Then he passed by me and I said: 'This is he'. They said: 'This is Talha bin 'Ubaidullah'."

This shows us how important it is for us to remind each other when we forget our duties or make mistakes in fulfilling them; this is especially true when it comes to religious obligations like prayer which are essential for our spiritual growth and development as Muslims. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us that we should be humble enough to accept correction from others even if they are not scholars or experts in religion; this humility will help us learn more about our faith and become better Muslims overall.
