Praying in Difficult Times

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of prayer and how it should be done even in difficult times.

'Abdullah bin Mas'ud said: "We were fighting a battle and the idolators kept us from praying Zuhr, 'Asr, Maghrib and 'Isha'. When the idolaters went away, the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) commanded a caller to say Iqamah for Zuhr prayer, and we prayed. Then he said the Iqamah for 'Asr, and we prayed, and he said the Iqamah for Maghrib and we prayed, and he said the Iqamah for 'Isha' and we prayed. Then we went around among us and said: 'There is no group on Earth who is remembering Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, except you'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray regularly even during difficult times .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of prayer and how it should be done even in difficult times. It was narrated by Abdullah bin Mas'ud who was a companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. During a battle, the idolators prevented them from praying Zuhr, 'Asr, Maghrib and 'Isha'. However, when they left the Messenger of Allah commanded a caller to say Iqamah for Zuhr prayer and they prayed. Then he said the Iqamah for 'Asr and they prayed again followed by Maghrib and 'Isha'. After that they went around among themselves saying that there is no group on Earth who is remembering Allah except them. This hadith teaches us that we must never forget to pray no matter what situation we are in or what difficulties we face as it is an obligation upon us as Muslims to remember our Lord at all times. We must also strive to make sure that our children learn this lesson too so that they can grow up with strong faith in God Almighty.
