Sunan an-Nasai 625 (Book 6, Hadith 132) #15233
The Significance of Salat Al-Wusta

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) set out on a journey at nightfall and stopped to camp until the sun rose. He then prayed the 'middle prayer' (Salat Al-Wusta).

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah set out at nightfall, then stopped to camp at the end of the night, and he did not wake up until the sun had risen or had partly risen. He did not pray until the sun had risen (fully), then he prayed, and that was the 'middle prayer' (Salat Al-Wusta)".
