Menstruation and Prayer

SUMMARY: During menstruation, women should not pray and when it is over, they should perform Ghusl.

It was narrated from 'Aishah that the Prophet said: "When the time of menstruation comes, stop praying, and when it goes, perform Ghusl".
أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ إِذَا أَقْبَلَتِ الْحَيْضَةُ فَاتْرُكِي الصَّلاَةَ وَإِذَا أَدْبَرَتْ فَاغْتَسِلِي

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the Islamic ruling regarding prayer during menstruation. According to this hadith, when a woman is in her menstrual cycle she should not pray. When the cycle ends, she must perform Ghusl before praying again. This ruling applies to all Muslim women who are of age and have reached puberty. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us that we must follow these rules in order to maintain our spiritual connection with Allah Almighty. He also taught us that we must take care of our physical health by performing Ghusl after the end of our menstrual cycle so that we can continue to worship Allah Almighty with a clean body and soul.
