Sahih al-Bukhari 1513 (Book 25, Hadith 1) #1452
Performing Hajj on Behalf of Others

SUMMARY: A woman asked the Prophet (ﷺ) if she could perform Hajj on behalf of her father who was old and weak. The Prophet (ﷺ) allowed her to do so.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas: Al-Fadl (his brother) was riding behind Allah's Messenger and a woman from the tribe of Khath'am came and Al-Fadl started looking at her and she started looking at him. The Prophet turned Al-Fadl's face to the other side. The woman said, "O Allah's Messenger ! The obligation of Hajj enjoined by Allah on His devotees has become due on my father and he is old and weak, and he cannot sit firm on the Mount; may I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet replied, "Yes, you may". That happened during the Hajj-al-Wida (of the Prophet ).

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a woman from the tribe of Khath'am who asked the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ if she could perform Hajj on behalf of her father who was old and weak. The Prophet ﷺ allowed her to do so as it is an obligation for all devotees to perform Hajj at least once in their lifetime. This hadith teaches us that we should help those in need and be kind towards them even if they are not related to us. It also shows us that we should fulfill our obligations towards Allah no matter what our circumstances are or how difficult it may seem for us. We should always strive to do our best in fulfilling these obligations as this will bring us closer to Allah and His blessings upon us will be greater than ever before.
