Praying for Knowledge

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) prayed for Ibn 'Abbas to become a learned scholar in Islam.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: Once the Prophet entered a lavatory and I placed water for his ablution. He asked, "Who placed it?" He was informed accordingly and so he said, "O Allah! Make him (Ibn 'Abbas) a learned scholar in religion (Islam).
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ دَخَلَ الْخَلاَءَ، فَوَضَعْتُ لَهُ وَضُوءًا قَالَ ‏"‏ مَنْ وَضَعَ هَذَا ‏"‏‏.‏ فَأُخْبِرَ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ اللَّهُمَّ فَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's prayer for his companion, Ibn 'Abbas. The Prophet asked who had placed water for his ablution and when he was informed that it was Ibn 'Abbas, he prayed to Allah that He make him a learned scholar in religion. This hadith teaches us the importance of seeking knowledge and how we should pray for others to gain knowledge as well. It also shows us the power of prayer and how it can be used to benefit ourselves and those around us.
