Sahih al-Bukhari 1411 (Book 24, Hadith 15) #1355
The Importance of Charity

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) warned people to give in charity as a time will come when no one will accept it.

Narrated Haritha bin Wahab: I heard the Prophet saying, "O people! Give in charity as a time will come upon you when a person will wander about with his object of charity and will not find anybody to accept it, and one (who will be requested to take it) will say, "If you had brought it yesterday, would have taken it, but today I am not in need of it".

QUICK LESSONS:
Give generously whenever possible and help those who are less fortunate than you.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of giving in charity. It was narrated by Haritha bin Wahab, who heard the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ saying that people should give in charity as a time will come when no one will accept it. He warned that if someone brings an object of charity today, they may not find anyone to take it and be told “If you had brought it yesterday, would have taken it, but today I am not in need of it”. This hadith teaches us that we should always be generous and give whatever we can to those who are less fortunate than us before our wealth is taken away from us or before we are unable to do so due to any other reason. We should also remember that Allah rewards those who spend their wealth for His sake and for the benefit of others.
