EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith was narrated by Abu Bashir Ansari, who reported that he had accompanied Allah's Messenger on some of his journeys. On one such journey, Allah's Messenger sent one of his messengers, Abdullah b Abi Bakr, to tell people to make sure that no necklace of strings be left on the necks of camels or other animals. Imam Malik suggested that this practice was done in order to protect them from the influence of the evil eye. The evil eye is a belief in many cultures and religions which suggests that certain people can cause harm or bad luck with just a glance or look at someone else. Wearing necklaces around an animal’s neck is believed to ward off any negative energy and protect them from harm caused by others’ envy or jealousy. This hadith teaches us about taking care and protecting our animals as well as being mindful not to cause harm with our words or looks towards others out of envy or jealousy.
