QUICK LESSONS:
Follow only what has been taught by Allah and His Messenger; strive to be true believers; stay away from any practice that goes against Islamic teachings and values.

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) warned his followers against following the traditions and customs of the Days of Ignorance, also known as Jahiliyyah. These were practices that were common before Islam was revealed, such as slapping one's cheeks in grief or tearing one's clothes. He said that anyone who follows these practices is not from among his followers. This hadith teaches us to stay away from any practice that goes against Islamic teachings and values, even if it is a tradition in our culture or society. We should strive to follow only what has been taught by Allah and His Messenger, so we can be true believers and part of His Ummah.
