This hadith discusses the prohibition of preparing a beverage called nabidh in certain containers. Nabidh is a type of drink made from fruits or grains that have been soaked overnight and then mixed with water. In this hadith, it is reported that Ibn 'Umar was asked if Allah's Messenger prohibited the preparation of nabidh in green pitchers smeared with pitch, varnished jars and gourds. He replied yes to all three questions. This indicates that it is not permissible to prepare nabidh in these types of containers as they are not suitable for storing drinks for long periods of time due to their porous nature which can cause spoilage or contamination.
