Eating Sacrificial Animal Beyond Three Days

SUMMARY: It is not permissible to eat the flesh of a sacrificial animal beyond three days.

Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Apostle having said: None of you should eat the flesh of his sacrificial animal beyond three days.
وَحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، ح وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏ "‏ لاَ يَأْكُلْ أَحَدٌ مِنْ لَحْمِ أُضْحِيَّتِهِ فَوْقَ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the consumption of sacrificial animals. It teaches us that it is not permissible to eat the flesh of a sacrificial animal beyond three days. This hadith was narrated by Ibn 'Umar who reported that Allah's Apostle said that none of you should eat the flesh of his sacrificial animal beyond three days. The Prophet Muhammad was teaching us to be mindful and respectful when consuming food from an animal sacrificed for religious purposes. We should take only what we need and not waste any part of it as this would be disrespectful towards Allah's creation and His blessings upon us.
