Sahih Muslim 1672e (Book 28, Hadith 24) #11476
Punishment for Crimes

SUMMARY: A girl was found with her head crushed between two stones and it was revealed that a Jew had done it. The Jew was caught and punished according to the command of Allah's Messenger.

Anas b. Malik reported: A girl was found with her head crushed between two stones. They asked her as to who had done that-has so and so (done it) until they mentioned a Jew. She indicated with the nod of her head (that it was so). So the Jew was caught, and he made confession (of his guilt). And Allah's Messenger commanded that his head be smashed with stones.

This hadith teaches us that justice must be served in order to maintain peace in society, as well as to deter people from committing such heinous acts again in future.
