SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of cultivating land and not giving it on rent.

Sulaiman b. Musa asked Ata': Did Jabir b. 'Abdullah (Allah be pleased with them) reported Allah's Apostle as saying:" He who has land should cultivate it himself, or let his brother cultivate it, and should not give on rent"? He said: Yes.

QUICK LESSONS:
Cultivate one's own land or let one's brother cultivate it

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of cultivating land instead of giving it away for rent. It was narrated by Sulaiman b. Musa who asked Ata' if Jabir b.'Abdullah reported that Allah's Apostle said "He who has land should cultivate it himself or let his brother cultivate it, and should not give on rent". Ata' replied in the affirmative which shows that this was a teaching from Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself. This hadith teaches us to be productive with our resources and to use them wisely instead of wasting them away or giving them away for nothing in return. We should also help our brothers in need by allowing them to use our resources if we are unable to do so ourselves as this will benefit both parties involved as well as society at large.
