In Islam, there is a concept known as fosterage which makes marriage unlawful. This concept is based on the teachings found in the Holy Quran. According to this hadith narrated by 'Amra from 'A'isha, it was revealed in the Quran that there were ten clear sucklings and then five clear sucklings. This means that if someone has been breastfed by a woman for more than five times or for more than two years consecutively then they are considered to be related through fosterage and thus cannot marry each other according to Islamic law. This hadith serves as an important reminder about how important it is to be aware of one's relationships when considering marriage so as not to break any laws set forth by Allah SWT.
