Sahih al-Bukhari 1098 (Book 18, Hadith 18) #1058
Praying While Travelling

SUMMARY: Abdullah bin Umar used to offer optional prayers on the back of his animal during a journey, and he would not worry about the direction he faced. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) also used to offer optional prayers on the back of his mount facing any direction, but never offered compulsory prayer on it.

Narrated Salim: At night 'Abdullah bin 'Umar used to offer the prayer on the back of his animal during the journey and never cared about the direction he faced. Ibn 'Umar said, "Allah's Messenger used to offer the optional prayer on the back of his Mount facing any direction and also used to pray the witr on it but never offered the compulsory prayer on it".

QUICK LESSONS:
Make an effort to pray even if it is just an optional prayer when you are travelling .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about how one should pray while travelling. Abdullah bin Umar was known for offering optional prayers while travelling on the back of his animal, and not worrying about which direction he faced. Similarly, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also used to offer optional prayers while travelling in any direction but never offered compulsory prayer in this manner. This hadith teaches us that when we are travelling, we should still make an effort to pray even if it is just an optional prayer as it is still beneficial for us spiritually and morally. It also shows us that even though we may be busy or preoccupied with something else such as travel, we should still make time for our faith and practice our religion regularly no matter what situation we are in.
