Sahih Muslim 1162e (Book 13, Hadith 256) #9895
The Significance of Fasting on Monday

SUMMARY: Fasting on Monday is important because it was the day when the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born and revelation was sent down to him.

Abu Qatada Ansari (Allah be pleased with him) reported that Allah's messenger was asked about fasting on Monday, whereupon he said: It is (the day) when I was born and revelation was sent down to me.
