Sahih Muslim 1146a (Book 13, Hadith 193) #9832
Completing Ramadan Fasts in Sha'ban

SUMMARY: Aisha was unable to complete her Ramadan fasts due to her duties with the Messenger of Allah, so she completed them in the month of Sha'ban.

Abu Salama reported: I heard 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) as saying: I had to complete some of the fasts of Ramadan, but I could not do it but during the month of Sha'ban due to my duties to the Messenger of Allah or with the Messenger of Allah .

QUICK LESSONS:
Try your best and make up for any missed religious obligations when possible.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how 'Aisha, a wife of the Prophet Muhammad, was unable to complete her fasting during the month of Ramadan due to other duties she had with him. She then completed these fasts during the month of Sha’ban instead. This teaches us that if we are not able to fulfill our religious obligations due to other commitments or responsibilities, we should still try our best and make up for it when possible. It also shows us that even though it is important for us to fulfill our religious obligations on time, Allah will forgive us if we are not able to do so and give us another chance later on.
