Mercy in Fasting

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade his companions from fasting continuously out of mercy for them, as he was provided with food and drink by Allah.

'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) said: The Apostle of Allah forbade them (his Companions) to observe Saum Wisal out of mercy for them. They said: You (Holy Prophet) yourself observe it. Upon this he said: I am not like you. My Lord feeds me and provides me drink.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be kind and merciful towards others even if it means sacrificing something you want to do yourself; Put your trust in Allah's provision; Follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us the importance of mercy and kindness in our daily lives. In this hadith, he showed us how to be merciful even when it comes to fasting. He forbade his companions from observing Saum Wisal, which is a continuous fast without any breaks, out of mercy for them. When they asked him why he wasn't doing the same thing himself, he replied that Allah provides him with food and drink so there was no need for him to fast continuously like them. This hadith teaches us that we should always be kind and merciful towards others even if it means sacrificing something we want to do ourselves. We should also remember that Allah will provide for us if we put our trust in Him.
