Divine Guidance in Religion

SUMMARY: Allah grants insight into religion to those whom He intends to do good.

Abd al-Rahman b. Auf reported: I heard Mu'awiya b. Abu Sufyan saying in an address that he had heard the Messenger of Allah as saying: He to whom Allah intends to do good, He gives him insight into religion. And I am only the distributor while Allah is the Bestower.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be thankful for divine guidance in religion; share knowledge about faith with others; live according to religious teachings.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of having insight into religion. It is a reminder that it is Allah who bestows this insight upon us and not ourselves; we are only the distributors of this knowledge. The hadith also serves as a reminder that it is only those whom Allah intends to do good who will be granted such insight into religion. This means that if one has been blessed with knowledge about their faith then they should be thankful for it and use it in the best way possible by spreading its teachings and values among others as well as living by them themselves.
