Fulfilling Promises to the Prophet

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) took a pledge from his companions that they would not lament, and only five of them fulfilled the promise.

Umm 'Atiyya reported that the Messenger of Allah took pledge from us (including this promise) that we would not lament. Only five amongst us fulfilled the promise, and one of them (who fulfilled the promise) was Umm Sulaim.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَسْبَاطٌ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ، قَالَتْ أَخَذَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فِي الْبَيْعَةِ أَلاَّ تَنُحْنَ فَمَا وَفَتْ مِنَّا غَيْرُ خَمْسٍ مِنْهُنَّ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about fulfilling promises made to the Prophet Muhammad. It tells us that when the Prophet asked his companions to make a promise not to lament, only five of them were able to fulfill it. One of those who kept their promise was Umm Sulaim. This hadith teaches us that we should always keep our promises and be honest in our words and actions. We should also strive to be like those five people who kept their word even when it was difficult for them. It also shows us how important it is for us as Muslims to respect and honor the teachings of our beloved prophet Muhammad PBUH.
