Praying on Eid and Delivering a Sermon

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to offer the prayer of 'Id-ul-Adha and 'Id-ul-Fitr and then deliver a sermon afterwards.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: Allah's Messenger used to offer the prayer of 'Id-ul-Adha and 'Id-ul-Fitr and then deliver the Khutba after the prayer.
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسٌ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ،‏.‏ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ يُصَلِّي فِي الأَضْحَى وَالْفِطْرِ، ثُمَّ يَخْطُبُ بَعْدَ الصَّلاَةِ‏.‏
