Sahih Muslim 862b (Book 7, Hadith 46) #9143
The Prophet's Method of Delivering Sermons

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad used to deliver sermons while standing, and anyone who says otherwise is lying.

Jabir b. Samura said that the Messenger of Allah used to deliver the sermon while standing. He would then sit down and then stand up and address in a standing posture; and whoever informed you that he (the Holy Prophet) delivered the sermon while sitting told a lie. By Allah. I prayed with him more than two thousand times.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the method of delivering sermons by the Prophet Muhammad. It is narrated by Jabir b. Samura that the Messenger of Allah used to deliver his sermon while standing, and then sit down and stand up again to address in a standing posture. He further states that whoever claims otherwise is lying, as he has prayed with him more than two thousand times. This hadith teaches us that we should be truthful in our speech and not make false claims about others or their actions, as it goes against Islamic teachings which emphasize honesty and integrity in all matters. Additionally, this hadith also serves as an example for us on how we should conduct ourselves when delivering sermons or speeches; we should do so while standing up with respect for our audience and for the message itself.
