EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prostration during reciting the Quran. It is narrated by Abdullah bin Umar that when the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) recited Surat al Najm he prostrated himself and all those who were with him followed suit except for one old man who instead took a handful of pebbles or dust in his palm and lifted it to his forehead saying that this was sufficient for him. Later on it was reported that this same man was killed in a state of unbelief. This hadith teaches us how important it is to follow the teachings of Islam as well as how important prostration during reciting the Quran is. It also shows us how serious Allah takes our actions and how we should be careful not to take any action lightly or without thought because it could have serious consequences later on.
