Sahih Muslim 575b (Book 5, Hadith 134) #8448
Prostration Outside of Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would recite the Quran and perform prostration, even when it was not part of a prayer.

Ibn 'Umar reported: Sometimes the Messenger of Allah recited the Qur'an, and would pass by (recite) the verse of sajda and performed prostration and he did this along with us, but we were so crowded in his company that none of us could find a place for performing prostration. (and it was done on occasions) other than prayer.

QUICK LESSONS:
Read and reflect on Allah's words regularly; Show reverence for scripture through physical acts such as prostrating; Be mindful in your worship even if you are surrounded by people or in crowded places.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of reciting the Quran and performing prostration outside of prayer. It is narrated by Ibn 'Umar that sometimes the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) would recite verses from the Qur'an and then perform a prostration, even though it was not part of a formal prayer. This shows us how important it is to take time out to read and reflect on Allah's words in our daily lives, as well as to show reverence for them through physical acts such as prostrating. It also teaches us that we should be mindful in our worship, even if we are surrounded by people or in crowded places.
