Sahih Muslim 572l (Book 5, Hadith 123) #8437
Making Up For Mistakes in Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) made a mistake in his prayer and when asked about it, he said that he is human and can forget just like everyone else. He then performed two prostrations to make up for the mistake.

'Abdullah (b. Mas'ud) reported: The Messenger of Allah said prayer and he omitted or committed (something). Ibrahim said: It is my doubt, and it was said: Messenger of Allah, has there been any addition to the prayer? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Verily I am a human being like you. I forget just as you forget so when any one of you forgets, he must perform two prostrations, and he (the Holy Prophet) was sitting and then the Messenger of Allah turned (his face towards the Qibla) and performed two prostrations.

QUICK LESSONS:
Take responsibility for your mistakes , Repent sincerely to Allah SWT

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that we are all human and can make mistakes, even the Prophet Muhammad himself. When he realized his mistake, he performed two prostrations as an act of repentance. This shows us that we should not be ashamed of our mistakes but instead take responsibility for them and try to make up for them in whatever way possible. We should also remember that Allah is forgiving and merciful so if we sincerely repent for our mistakes, He will forgive us. Furthermore, this hadith also reminds us of the importance of prayer as it was something so important to the Prophet Muhammad that even when making a mistake in it, he still took responsibility for it by performing two prostrations afterwards.
