Sahih Muslim 489 (Book 4, Hadith 256) #8261
The Path to Paradise

SUMMARY: Devoting oneself to prayer and worship can lead to a place in Paradise.

Rabi'a b. Ka'b said: I was with Allah's Messenger one night. and I brought him water and what he required. He said to me: Ask (anything you like). I said: I ask your company in Paradise. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Or anything else besides it. I said: That is all (what I require). He said: Then help me to achieve this for you by devoting yourself often to prostration.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer and worship in Islam. It was narrated by Rabi'a b. The Prophet responded that if he wanted this reward then he should devote himself often to prostration or prayer. This hadith teaches us that if we want a place in Paradise then we must be devoted to our prayers and worship of Allah through prostration or salat. We must also strive for righteousness and piety so that we may be rewarded with eternal bliss in the afterlife.
