Sahih Muslim 269 (Book 2, Hadith 85) #7789
Avoiding Cursing Provoking Actions

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warned against two things that can provoke cursing, which are easing on the thoroughfares or under the shades.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah said: Be on your guard against two things which provoke cursing. They (the companions present there) said: Messenger of Allah, what are those things which provoke cursing? He said: Easing on the thoroughfares or under the shades (where they take shelter and rest).

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful of your actions and avoid doing anything that could lead to being cursed. Do not relieve yourself in public places or take shelter/rest without permission from its owner.

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to be mindful of our actions and to avoid doing anything that could lead to being cursed. He specifically mentioned two activities that can provoke cursing, which are easing on the thoroughfares or under the shades. This means we should not relieve ourselves in public places such as roads and parks, as this is considered disrespectful and inappropriate behavior. We should also be careful not to take shelter or rest in places where it is prohibited, such as private property without permission from its owner. By following these teachings of our beloved Prophet ﷺ we can ensure that we do not incur any curses upon ourselves due to our actions.
