Forgiveness for Evil Promptings

SUMMARY: Allah forgives the evil promptings of people, as long as they do not talk about or act upon them.

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah observed: Verily the Great and Mighty Allah forgave my people the evil promptings arising in their minds, but they neither talked about them nor acted upon them.
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، وَعَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَابْنُ، بَشَّارٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ تَجَاوَزَ لأُمَّتِي عَمَّا حَدَّثَتْ بِهِ أَنْفُسَهَا مَا لَمْ تَعْمَلْ أَوْ تَكَلَّمْ بِهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Abu Huraira and it speaks about the mercy of Allah. It states that even if a person has evil thoughts in their mind, Allah will forgive them if they do not talk about or act upon those thoughts. This teaches us to be mindful of our thoughts and to keep away from any kind of negative thinking. We should also remember that no matter how bad our thoughts are, we can still be forgiven by Allah if we don't give into them and instead turn to Him for forgiveness. This hadith also reminds us that we should always strive to think positively and stay away from any kind of negative thinking or behavior.
