Sahih Muslim 68 (Book 1, Hadith 134) #7399
The Infidelity of a Runaway Slave

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that a slave who runs away from his master is considered to have committed an act of infidelity until he returns.

It is narrated on the authority of Jarir that he heard (the Holy Prophet) saying, The slave who fled from his master committed an act of infidelity as long as he would not return to him. Mansur observed: By God, this hadith was narrated from the Apostle (may peace and blessings be upon him), but I do not like that this should be narrated on my authority here in Basra.

QUICK LESSONS:
Remain loyal and obedient even if mistreated or abused; Strive for justice in our dealings with others regardless of their social status; Treat those under you with respect and kindness so as not to drive them away; Do not commit acts of infidelity.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith, narrated by Jarir ibn Abdullah al-Bajali, teaches us about the importance of loyalty and obedience. According to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), if a slave runs away from his master, he has committed an act of infidelity until he returns. This means that it is not permissible for slaves to run away from their masters and they must remain loyal and obedient even if they are mistreated or abused. It also shows us how important it is for people in authority to treat those under them with respect and kindness so as not to drive them away. Furthermore, this hadith serves as a reminder that we should always strive for justice in our dealings with others regardless of their social status or position in society.
