Sahih Muslim 63b (Book 1, Hadith 126) #7391
Forbidden False Fatherhood

SUMMARY: It is forbidden for someone to falsely claim another person as their father.

Sa'd and Abu Bakra each one of them said: My ears heard and my hearing preserved it that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) observed: He who claimed for another one his fatherhood besides his own father knowingly that he was not his father-to him Paradise is forbidden.

QUICK LESSONS:
Always tell the truth about one's family members; Respect one's parents/family members; Do not make false claims regarding parentage; Be honest even when it may be difficult or embarrassing.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith, narrated by Sa'd and Abu Bakra, teaches us that it is forbidden to falsely claim someone else as your father. This means that if you know that a certain person is not your biological father, then you should not say they are. Doing so would be considered a sin in the eyes of Allah and would result in being denied entry into Paradise. The lesson here is to always be honest about who your parents are, even if it may be difficult or embarrassing to do so. We must also remember that we should never lie about our family members or make false claims about them because this could lead to serious consequences both in this life and the hereafter.
