Sahih al-Bukhari 7051 (Book 92, Hadith 4) #6776
Changing Religion After the Prophet is Forbidden

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ warned against changing the religion after him and said that those who do so will be far removed from mercy.

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri added that the Prophet further said: "I will say those people are from me. It will be said, 'You do not know what changes and new things they did after you'. Then I will say, 'Far removed (from mercy), far removed (from mercy), those who changed (the religion) after me!"

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith warns us against changing the religion after the Prophet. It teaches us that we should not change any of the teachings of Islam or add anything to it. The Prophet said that those who do so will be far removed from mercy. This means they will not receive God's mercy and forgiveness for their actions. We must remember to follow all of the teachings of Islam as they were taught by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and not change them in any way. We must also teach our children these same values so that they can grow up knowing what is right and wrong according to Islamic teachings.
