Sahih al-Bukhari 7035 (Book 91, Hadith 50) #6761
The Reward of Faithful Believers

SUMMARY: The Prophet saw a dream in which he was migrating from Mecca to Medina, and the cows he saw symbolized the believers who were killed in the Battle of Uhud. Allah rewarded them with victory in the Battle of Khaibar and conquest of Mecca.

Narrated Abu Musa: The Prophet said, "I saw in a dream that I was migrating from Mecca to a land where there were date palm trees. I thought that it might be the land of Al-Yamama or Hajar, but behold, it turned out to be Yathrib (ie Medina). And I saw cows (being slaughtered) there, but the reward given by Allah is better (than worldly benefits). Behold, those cows proved to symbolize the believers (who were killed) on the Day (of the battle) of Uhud, and the good (which I saw in the dream) was the good and the reward and the truth which Allah bestowed upon us after the Badr battle. (or the Battle of Uhud) and that was the victory bestowed by Allah in the Battle of Khaibar and the conquest of Mecca) .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Allah rewards those who are faithful to Him. In this hadith narrated by Abu Musa, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ saw a dream where he was migrating from Mecca to a land with date palm trees. He thought it might be Al-Yamama or Hajar but it turned out to be Yathrib which is now known as Medina. In his dream he also saw cows being slaughtered which symbolized the believers who were killed on the Day of Uhud battle. However despite their death they were rewarded by Allah with victory in both Badr battle and Khaibar battle as well as conquest of Mecca. This hadith teaches us that even though we may face hardships and difficulties for our faithfulness towards Allah we will ultimately be rewarded for our efforts if we remain steadfast on His path.
