Sahih al-Bukhari 6992 (Book 91, Hadith 11) #6722
Responding to the Call of a Messenger

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is expressing his willingness to respond to the call of a messenger, even if he were to be in prison for as long as Joseph was.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "If I stayed in prison as long as Joseph stayed and then the messenger came, I would respond to his call (to go out of the prison) ".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respond positively and promptly when called upon by a messenger
EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad is conveying an important message about responding positively and promptly when called upon by a messenger. He uses the example of Joseph, who was imprisoned for many years before being released by Pharaoh's court. Despite his lengthy imprisonment, Joseph responded immediately when Pharaoh's court summoned him. The Prophet Muhammad is thus emphasizing that we should always be ready and willing to answer any call from a messenger or authority figure without hesitation or delay. This hadith also teaches us that we should never give up hope in difficult times; just like Joseph did not lose faith despite his long imprisonment, we too should remain hopeful and trust in Allah’s plan for us no matter what our circumstances may be.
