QUICK LESSONS:
Strive towards justice even if it means punishing those who have wronged us or others around us .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the punishment given to a tribe called Uraina by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. According to this hadith, the Prophet ﷺ cut off their hands and feet without cauterizing them until they died. This punishment was given as a form of qisas or retribution for an offense committed by this tribe. It is important to note that this punishment was only given after due process and justice were served, as it was commanded by Allah in the Quran “And We ordained therein for them: Life for life, eye for eye, nose for nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth” [Quran 5:45 ]. Therefore it is clear that justice must be served in order to maintain peace and harmony in society. Furthermore, it teaches us that we should always strive towards justice even if it means punishing those who have wronged us or others around us.
