Sahih al-Bukhari 6492 (Book 81, Hadith 81) #6241
Sins and Their Severity

SUMMARY: Anas was saying that people nowadays commit sins which seem small to them, but were considered destructive sins during the lifetime of the Prophet.

Narrated Ghailan: Anas said "You people do (bad) deeds (commit sins) which seem in your eyes as tiny (minute) than hair while we used to consider those (very deeds) during the life-time of the Prophet as destructive sins".

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for righteousness, Avoid any kind of wrongdoing

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how people view sin differently now than they did during the time of the Prophet. Anas was saying that what people consider to be minor transgressions today were seen as major sins in the past. He was warning us not to take our actions lightly, as even small deeds can have serious consequences. The Prophet taught us that we should strive for righteousness and avoid any kind of wrongdoing, no matter how insignificant it may seem at first glance. We should remember that Allah is watching over us and will judge us for our actions accordingly.
