Beware of Materialism

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ warned against being too attached to material possessions and money.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Perish the slave of Dinar, Dirham, Qatifa (thick soft cloth), and Khamisa (a garment), for if he is given, he is pleased; otherwise he is dissatisfied".
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ يُوسُفَ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي حَصِينٍ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ تَعِسَ عَبْدُ الدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمِ وَالْقَطِيفَةِ وَالْخَمِيصَةِ، إِنْ أُعْطِيَ رَضِيَ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يُعْطَ لَمْ يَرْضَ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warned against being too attached to material possessions and money. He said that if someone is given these things, they are pleased, but if not, they become dissatisfied. This hadith teaches us that we should not be overly focused on acquiring wealth or material goods as it can lead to unhappiness and dissatisfaction with life. Instead, we should focus on the spiritual aspects of life such as prayer, charity, and helping others in need. We should also remember that all our wealth comes from Allah SWT and so we must use it wisely for His pleasure.
