Invoking Allah for Good in This World and the Hereafter

SUMMARY: The Prophet's most frequent invocation was to ask Allah for good in this world and the hereafter, and to be saved from the torment of Hellfire.

Narrated Anas: The most frequent invocation of The Prophet was: "O Allah! Give to us in the world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire". (2.201)
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ كَانَ أَكْثَرُ دُعَاءِ النَّبِيِّ ‏ "‏ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً، وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً، وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

This hadith serves as a reminder that we should always strive for goodness in our lives, both spiritually and physically. We should also remember that our ultimate goal is to attain salvation from Hellfire on Judgment Day. Furthermore, it teaches us that supplications are an effective way of asking Allah for His blessings and mercy.
