Sahih al-Bukhari 6366 (Book 80, Hadith 63) #6117
Punishment of the Grave

SUMMARY: The hadith is about two Jewish ladies informing Aisha that the dead are punished in their graves, which is confirmed by the Prophet ﷺ and he starts seeking refuge from the punishment of the grave in his prayers.

Narrated 'Aisha: Two old ladies from among the Jewish ladies entered upon me and said' "The dead are punished in their graves," but I thought they were telling a lie and did not believe them in the beginning. When they went away and the Prophet entered upon me, I said, "O Allah's Messenger ! Two old ladies".. and told him the whole story. He said, "They told the truth; the dead are really punished, to the extent that all the animals hear (the sound resulting from) their punishment". Since then I always saw him seeking refuge with Allah from the punishment of the grave in his prayers.

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek Refuge From Allah's Wrath & Punishment Through Prayers

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith talks about how two Jewish ladies informed Aisha that when people die, they are punished in their graves. This was confirmed by Prophet Muhammad who started seeking refuge from this punishment through his prayers. It teaches us to be mindful of our actions and deeds as we will be held accountable for them even after death. We should also seek refuge from Allah's wrath and punishment through our prayers so that we can be saved from it.
