Doing Good Deeds for Your Destiny

SUMMARY: Everyone has a place in either Paradise or Hell-Fire, and one should do good deeds to reach their destined place.

Narrated 'Ali: We were with the Prophet in a funeral procession, and he started scraping the ground with a small stick and said, "There is none amongst you but has been assigned a place (either) in Paradise and (or) in the Hell-Fire". The people said (to him), "Should we not depend upon it?" He said: carry on doing (good) deeds, for everybody will find easy such deeds as will lead him to his destined place. He then recited: "As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah".. (92:5)

QUICK LESSONS:
Do Good Deeds To Reach Our Destined Place

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of doing good deeds in order to reach our destined place. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was in a funeral procession when he started scraping the ground with a small stick and said that everyone has been assigned either Paradise or Hell-Fire. The people asked if they should depend on it and he replied that they should carry on doing good deeds as everybody will find easy such deeds as will lead them to their destined place. He then recited verse 92:5 from the Quran which states “As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah”. This hadith teaches us that we must strive to do good deeds so that we can reach our destination of either Paradise or Hell-Fire. We must remember that Allah knows best what is best for us and He will reward us accordingly for our actions here on earth.
