Sahih al-Bukhari 6094 (Book 78, Hadith 121) #5850
The Path of Truthfulness

SUMMARY: Being truthful leads to righteousness and ultimately Paradise, while falsehood leads to wickedness and Hell.

Narrated 'Abdullah: The Prophet said, "Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. And a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehood leads to Al-Fajur (ie wickedness, evil-doing), and Al-Fajur (wickedness) leads to the (Hell) Fire, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is written before Allah, a liar".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of truthfulness in our lives. It teaches us that if we are truthful, it will lead us to righteousness and eventually paradise. On the other hand, if we tell lies, it will lead us to wickedness and hellfire. We should always strive for truthfulness in our words and actions as this is what Allah expects from us as believers. We should also remember that Allah knows all things so even if we try to hide something from others, He knows the truth anyway so there is no point in lying or deceiving people.
