Sahih al-Bukhari 5958 (Book 77, Hadith 174) #5718
The House Without Pictures

SUMMARY: Pictures should not be hung in a house as angels of mercy do not enter such houses.

Narrated Abu Talha: Allah's Messenger said, "Angels (of mercy) do not enter a house where there are pictures'." The subnarrator Busr added: "Then Zaid fell ill and we paid him a visit. Behold! There was, hanging at his door, a curtain decorated with a picture. I said to 'Ubaidullah Al-Khaulani, the step son of Maimuna, the wife of the Prophet , "Didn't Zaid tell us about the picture the day before yesterday?" 'Ubaidullah said, "Didn't you hear him saying: 'except a design in a garment'?"

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect for others’ words , Avoiding offensive images/pictures , Keeping one's home peaceful and blessed with Allah's mercy .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of keeping our homes free from pictures or images. According to this hadith, angels of mercy will not enter a house that has pictures hanging on its walls or doors. This means that if we want to keep our homes filled with peace and blessings, we should avoid having any kind of picture in it. We can still decorate our homes with beautiful designs but without any kind of image or picture that could be considered offensive by Allah SWT. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us the importance of paying attention to what people say and understanding their words correctly before jumping into conclusions. In this case, Zaid was misunderstood when he said "except a design in a garment" which was later clarified by 'Ubaidullah Al-Khaulani who explained what Zaid meant by his words correctly.
