Sahih al-Bukhari 5957 (Book 77, Hadith 173) #5717
Warning Against Pictures in Houses

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) warned against the use of pictures in the house as it is a sin and will be punished on the Day of Resurrection.

Narrated 'Aisha: I purchased a cushion with pictures on it. The Prophet (came and) stood at the door but did not enter. I said (to him), "I repent to Allah for what (the guilt) I have done". He said, "What is this cushion?" I said, "It is for you to sit on and recline on". He said, "The makers of these pictures will be punished on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said to them, 'Make alive what you have created'. Moreover, the angels do not enter a house where there are pictures'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Avoid making or keeping any kind of images/pictures in our homes

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by 'Aisha, one of the wives of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. In this hadith, she recounts how she purchased a cushion with pictures on it and when Prophet Muhammad ﷺ saw it, he did not enter her house. He then warned her that those who make such pictures will be punished on the Day of Resurrection and that angels do not enter a house where there are pictures. This hadith serves as a warning to all Muslims to stay away from making or having any kind of images or pictures in their homes as it is considered sinful according to Islamic teachings. It also teaches us that angels do not enter houses where there are images or pictures which shows us how displeasing these things are to Allah SWT and His angels.
