Sahih al-Bukhari 5913 (Book 77, Hadith 128) #5672
Descriptions of Prophets Abraham and Moses

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the description of Prophet Abraham and Prophet Moses as seen by the Prophet Muhammad.

Narrated Mujahid: We were with Ibn 'Abbas and the people mentioned Ad-Dajjal. Someone said, "The word 'Kafir' (unbeliever) is written in between his (Ad-Dajjal's) eyes". Ibn 'Abbas said, "I have not heard the Prophet saying this, but he said, 'As regards Abraham, he looks like your companion (ie the Prophet, Muhammad), and as regards Moses, he is a brown curly haired man riding a camel and reigned with a strong jute rope, as if I am now looking at him getting down in the valley and saying, "Labaik"'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Speak based on revelation or from our beloved prophet Muhammad himself . Have faith in Allah's power .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Mujahid who was with Ibn 'Abbas when people were discussing Ad-Dajjal. Someone said that the word 'Kafir' was written in between his eyes but Ibn 'Abbas said he hadn't heard this from the Prophet Muhammad. Instead, he heard that Prophet Abraham looked like the Prophet Muhammad and that Prophet Moses was a brown curly haired man riding a camel with a strong jute rope. He also described him as if he could see him getting down in a valley saying "Labaik". This hadith teaches us to be mindful of what we say about prophets because we should only speak based on what has been revealed to us through revelation or from our beloved prophet Muhammad himself. It also teaches us to have faith in Allah's power and His ability to bring back prophets even after centuries have passed since their time on earth.
