QUICK LESSONS:
Focus on spiritual matters; Abstain from activities involving betting with gold rings
EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, prohibited the wearing of gold rings. This prohibition was not limited to men but extended to women as well. It is believed that this prohibition was due to the fact that gold rings were seen as a sign of wealth and status in society at the time, and it was feared that people would become too attached to their material possessions and forget about their spiritual obligations. Additionally, it is thought that this prohibition may have been intended to prevent people from engaging in activities such as gambling or other forms of entertainment which involve betting with gold rings. Whatever the reason for this prohibition may be, it serves as an important reminder for us today to focus on our spiritual obligations rather than becoming too attached to material possessions.
